School-based Speech Language Pathologist – SLP/CCC or CFY– Contract Full-time Job Opportunity in Portales, New Mexico

 

Mediscan is actively recruiting Speech Language Pathologists for a full time school-based position in Portales, New Mexico.  

This New Mexico location is just West of the Texas/New Mexico border.   

This full time job will be for the current school year with the option of renewing for the following year.

Bi-lingual is preferred but not required.

School experience is preferred but will consider candidates with strong Pediatric background.

Currently have 9 SLPs on staff; CFYs will be consider.

The qualified Speech Therapist will serve at one school location.

Mediscan Speech Language Pathologists are passionate about helping students to improve communication which has a profound impact on a student’s ability to achieve academic success.  We place Speech Language Pathologists in Pediatric-based school positions throughout the country.  The majority of our positions are in public, private and charter schools, both full and part time.

Caseloads Available:

Mediscan has several other positions available, working with children from K through 12th grade. Some positions offer an opportunity to work with one specific age group; while others offer an opportunity to work with multiple age groups such as early intervention and elementary or middle and high school.

Experience Needed:

We have opportunities for seasoned speech pathologists and retired speech pathologists.  We also offer opportunities for new graduates in their Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).  We ensure supervision for all CFY’s.

Services you will provide:

  • Screen new students for Speech/Language disorders
  • Evaluate students referred with speech/language disorders to determine degree and severity
  • Provide Speech Therapy to students with a wide variety of disabilities
  • Complete appropriate paperwork following state guidelines
  • Attend IEP Meetings
  • Confer with parents and develop home programs when necessary
  • Consult with Teachers
  • Work as a part of Special Ed team
  • Provide thorough and accurate documentation in a timely fashion

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech and Communication
  • New Mexico Licensure/Certification
  • ASHA certification

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bilingual Speech Pathologists will be compensated accordingly
  • Fluency with American Sign Language is always a plus but not a requirement
